Foods That Tick Off The “Healthy Boxes” But Are Making You Gain Weight

Okay, we’ll clarify, all those leafy greens are great for you and your body. They give you all the nutrition you need, and they make you feel fuller for a longer time. It’s what you’ve been happily adding to your salad, yes, we’re talking about the dressing. 

You really need to take a look at the label; you could be consuming a lot of sugars and fats without knowing it. All that extra flavor you’re getting from your dressing could be worth hundreds of calories consumed on a daily basis. 

You’re eating a granola bar for a snack. 

Granola bars could be healthy, but did you take the time to read the nutrition label before you picked it up and paid for it? 

If you haven’t, you’ve possibly bought one that’s just no better than a chocolate bar. You really need to remember just because it has a label on it that says it’s “healthy” that doesn’t necessarily mean that it is, in fact, a healthy snack. Always read before you buy. 

You’re eating breakfast cereal. 

Answer this: would you rather eat a satisfying breakfast of eggs with sautéed veggies or a boring old bowl of high in sugar cereal? 

Did you answer veggies and eggs? You probably did, so give your body what’s going to be good for it. If you don’t have time, then it’s fine to go for the cereal, but you really need to read the label to make sure it isn’t sugar packed. 

You’re eating yogurt when you get peckish. 

Let us explain before you head to the kitchen to get rid of all your yogurt pots. Eating plain Greek yogurt is good for you, it’s the flavored stuff you’ve been snacking on that slowing your weight loss journey down. Yes, you know what we’re going to say, it’s full of all the things that make you gain weight like added sweeteners and more. 

Lunch on the go means grabbing something that’s “heart healthy.” 

Again, just because the label says it’s healthy and good for you, doesn’t mean that it actually is. Make a conscious effort to check the label; you’ll be surprised at all the things you’ve been eating that have been making you gain weight, rather than helping you lose weight. 

If you’re really not sure, then you’re best option is to cook everything yourself. At least then you’ll know what exactly has gone into your meal, and you can be certain you’ll start losing weight.
